CHASING THE SKY

Albany International Airport

Albany , NY 2014

High density foam, pigmented resin, metal pipe, and palm tree

The meandering path of a child's bead chase toy is presented here on a grand scale, to be contemplated from the playfully proportioned lounge below. Against a vivid blue, the rapid course of softly rounded, irregular balls is momentarily suspended, just long enough for us to imagine their passage, and then perhaps reflect upon our own.

On what bright pathway did your journey begin? In an airport, the serpentine routes of travelers converge and divide, spiraling off to distant points across the sky. The artist invites us to observe this pursuit of lifting off into the blue as an adventure, a game of discovery and delight.
